The Asian Secret to Skin Health & Beauty and Blood Circulation
"Young or old, our skin health reflects the internal condition of the body. For effective treatment of skin problems and for glowing skin we must treat the underlying new skin layer, that which external cleansers and creams do not reach"
The skin is the body's largest organ and is greatly influenced by our internal health. When something is wrong with our bodies ability to eliminate toxins from within, whether due to poor diets, sedentary lifestyles and poor circulation or other lifestyle factors such as smoking, then the internal situation is often reflected in our skin.
Common skin conditions such as acne, eczema, dry skin, wrinkling and premature ageing, eye bags and various skin diseases caused by infectious agents, such as boils are all aggravated by an overburdened eliminatory system and poor venous circulation. As an important eliminatory organ the skin is involved with the excretion of various metabolic wastes and salts through sweating. The cellular health of the skin is dependant upon efficient cellular cleansing and nutrition at the dermal layer of skin tissue. The upper surface layers are only comprised of dead skin cells that are shed continuously. External cleansers as such have no effect on the inner layers and as in the case of acne, are only a superficial part of treatment to reduce excess sebum and blocked pores.
Specific Asian herbs have been used for Centuries to activate the organs and systems of detoxification; liver, bowels, lymphatics, kidneys and skin to accelerate circulation and elimination of toxic substances that are often accumulating in the skin and fat layer.
Research began on Pegaga (Centella asiatica, or Gotu kola) more than 80 years ago after it was observed that the indigenous people throughout tropical Asia were using the herb in the treatment of various severe skin problems, including leprosy. Among its many traditionally uses is as a "cooling" or detoxifying medicine for skin conditions, and for maintaining healthy circulation. It is now one of Asia's most widely researched medicinal plants and its active ingredients have been used extensively in European cosmetics for more than 20 years. Scientific evidence confirms the active constituents, the asiaticosides, enhance the epidermis cell replacement and production of collagen and thickening of the skin (a great anti-aging property - as we age our skins become thinner) and enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants, both of which are essential for anti-aging processes to maintain smooth, firm and youthful looking skin. These constituents also accelerate skin healing, relieve inflammation and improve the tone of the circulatory system, especially the veins. Traditionally skin problems require a herbal regimen to assist elimination through the kidneys, liver and bowels, together with gently enhancing cellular nutrition and repair from within. In Ayurvedic medicine, Pegaga is widely used for improving memory and concentration, especially in students and the elderly. Multiple studies have shown that it improves both the ability to learn information and long-term memory in animals and humans, while reducing stress. |
